The Colorado Soccer Foundation in partnership with the Swallow Charitable Foundation reached out about a branding project that would provide assets for both the Foundation and their location; Soccer City Aurora. During the time period where we worked on their brand and website, the site was being built in Aurora, Colorado. Since this time, Soccer City Aurora has become a community hub offering free play for countless local kids.
Design Process
Going into this project, CSF wanted to have a lockup that would tie the brands together in an interchangeable way. Working through color palettes we decided on red and gold for the brand. Looking at our target community market, the committee decided to move forward with a design incorporating a soccer ball and mountain design. From here we could piece together a cohesive brand system.
It was crucial that we had 1-color versions and 3-color versions. The committee really wanted to dive into the intimate details of things as granular as text stroke to understand what needed to happen for consistency. Another aspect of the color conversation was understanding that as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization they need to be able to control their budget when it comes to printing. Black and white capabilities were a must.
Next, we created a cheat sheet and provided files for staff new and old could understand how to use the brand’s new assets. This way we could assure consistency from presentations to documents to prints. The documents provided had embedded styles so they could easily apply styles and change text regardless of the user’s comfort level in Adobe products.
